The textile industry is a typical resource-dependent and environmentally sensitive industry. The annual carbon dioxide emissions of the global textile and clothing industry account for about 9% of total global carbon dioxide emissions. This makes our industry the second largest CO2 emitter, even ahead of aviation. Every year, the global textile and apparel industry consumes 98 million tons of nonrenewable resources and approximately 93 billion m³ of water resources.
This gives rise to a particularly great responsibility for our industry to make the greatest possible efforts with innovative processes and products in order to make the greatest possible contribution to conserving our resources and reducing the burden on our planet. For us at Landmark Fabrics with its production facilities in China and our subsidiary offices in several countries worldwide, these efforts are of paramount importance for our daily work and for the new and further development of products and processes.
A constantly growing number of fashion brands have made it their mission to significantly improve the sustainability of the textile and clothing industry. The resulting requirements for the upstream stages of the textile chain are both an incentive and a challenge for us at Landmark Fabrics. We are proud that we already more than meet some of the crucial requirements and we continue to work daily to constantly improve the sustainability of our activities.
